Not sure where to start with home recording? You’re not alone.

Many musicians spend months, or even years, trying to piece things together through YouTube tutorials, forum posts, and endless trial and error.

Often the information is fragmented, overly technical, or assumes you already understand the fundamentals.

This course was designed differently.

Together, we work through the foundations of recording and production step-by-step using professionally recorded multitrack sessions. You’ll hear how each instrument was captured, why certain recording choices matter, and how all the individual parts come together into a finished mix.

Then comes the fun part.

We experiment freely with remixing, rearranging, and reshaping songs into completely different styles and genres, helping you train your ears and understand how production decisions change the emotional impact of music.

Whether you’re completely new, returning to music after years away, or self-taught and looking to fill in the gaps, sessions are tailored to your experience level, goals, and pace.

There’s no pressure to “keep up”.
We can spend one session or ten sessions on a topic if needed, revisit earlier concepts later, and build confidence gradually through practical experience.

I'm very happy with the content of the course. Aaron's teaching is well organised and presented. Super nice guy! I will continue my studies with him! Highly recommended to all.

"Very focused and planned teaching sessions..as per the need and capabilities of the student..with a very sincere urge to help and provide stepwise guidance to achieve student's goals!.. Very satisfactory! 4.8 out of 5!?..No human being is perfect!"

  • Musicians wanting to understand recording and production properly

  • Beginners building their first home studio

  • Self-taught artists who feel they may have missed important fundamentals

  • Re-starters returning to music after time away

  • Songwriters wanting better sounding demos and recordings

  • Curious music lovers wanting to understand how professional recordings work

  • People overwhelmed by modern recording technology and terminology

You do not need to already be “technical” or experienced.

The goal is to make modern music production approachable, practical, and enjoyable.

Sessions are practical, flexible, and adapted to your goals and interests. Topics include:

  • Recording fundamentals

  • Understanding multitrack sessions

  • Equalisation and tone shaping

  • Compression and dynamics

  • Reverb and delay

  • Effects and creative processing

  • Gain staging

  • Microphones and mic placement

  • Pre-amps and signal flow

  • Room acoustics and listening environments

  • Mixing and remixing

  • Producing different musical styles

  • Mixing position and critical listening

  • Mastering basics

  • Exporting and preparing files correctly

  • Uploading music to Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, YouTube and other platforms

Rather than only explaining theory, we work directly with real recordings so you can hear and understand what each tool is doing in context.

The course follows a clear pathway, but the experience is highly adaptable.

We can slow down, revisit earlier concepts, focus deeply on one subject, or move quickly through familiar material.

Along the way you may have a real world challenge with a production you're working on, in which case we could jump out and see how you could apply and practice your new skills in that real world context.

The goal is not simply to “finish sessions”.
The goal is genuine understanding, growing confidence, and practical skills.

At minimum:

  • A computer

  • Headphones

  • A smartphone

  • A stable internet connection

A microphone is helpful, but not essential to begin.

If you already have equipment, I can help check whether it’s suitable.
If you’re starting from scratch, I can also help guide you toward affordable gear that fits your goals and budget.

"I am new to home recording and have tried to learn how to use my DAW using YouTube, with little success. I never quite got what I was after. I saw Aaron's ad had my first session with him yesterday. I wish I had found him sooner! It would have saved me many hours of frustration and hair-pulling (I'm bald now btw). Aaron immediately found the reasons why I was having issues and solved them within a few minutes. I learnt more in 2 hours with him than I had in the last 3 months on YouTube - money well spent indeed. The lessons are all tailored specifically to the gear you have and I am looking forward to diving into this and learning more. Highly recommended, 10 out of 10."
